India's total exports of merchandise and services for April to July 2026-27 are estimated at US$316.42 billion, up 13.16% from US$279.63 billion a year earlier, according to a Ministry of Commerce release published on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

What is driving the increase

The release says merchandise exports for the four-month period reached US$173.78 billion, while non-petroleum exports rose to US$143.61 billion. July growth was helped by petroleum products, electronic goods, engineering goods, organic and inorganic chemicals, and cotton yarn and handloom-linked shipments.

For businesses and policymakers, the more important question is whether higher-value sectors can keep carrying momentum through the rest of the year. Electronics and engineering goods are especially important because they say more about manufacturing depth than a one-off commodity spike.
